ISRO is developing its own navigation system. This project, IRNSS, will enable the Indian space agency to implement own satellite-based navigation system.

The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) today launched successfully with five satellites including three foreign satellites. This launched has proved the capabilities of Indian space scientists once again.

A partial lunar eclipse will be observed today, on 26th June 2010,  in the Pacific and eastern Asia regions. The entire umbral phase will be visible after sunset, on the Saturday evening throughout the Pacific, New Zealand, Australia, and Japan.  if you are in India, you can see only the ending phase of this lunar eclipse.  Lunar eclipses occur on full moon, when the Earth’s shadow covers the Moon – fully or partially. ISRO, the Indian Space Research Organisation, is now planning to launch 10 satellites in a year. ISRO is also going to launch StudSat on May 9 this year.

The Chandrayaan : Indian mission to Moon has truely created a buzz and everyone seems to be too impressed with the ISRO (see Obama’s reactions). I have read many articles saying that Chandrayaan-1 has inspired many Indian space scientists working abroad to return home for a promising career, and ISRO is getting job inquiries from NASA and ESA scientists.

I am quite sure that the success of this mission will attract the young students towards the career in Space Science and other classical engineering streams.
