External noreferrer is a new extension for WebKit based browsers, Chrome and Safari. It should also work with other Chromium based browsers including Flock and RockMelt.
What is rel="noreferrer" ?
Whenever you click a link on any web page, your browser sends a request to the target server. Browser also sends the URL of previous web page as HTTP referer header. This information is generally used by webmasters to identify the sources of traffic on their websites. Read more on Wikipedia.
rel="noreferrer" is a new feature introduced with HTML5. As Google’s Mark Pilgrim describes, it directs the browser that no referrer information is to be leaked when following the associated link.

As of now, only WebKit based browsers (Chrome and Safari) support rel="noreferrer" attribute. Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera don’t support this feature yet. If you use Firefox, you are lucky! There are several Firefox add-ons, which help you to open links without sending the HTTP referer information. I suggest you to try RefControl and No-Referer add-ons.
