Firefox
Firefox comes with some pre-installed search engines, and you can use them from the search box. The keyboard shortcut to activate the search box is CTRL + K, and then you can press CTRL + UP/DOWN keys to switch between available search engines. If you want to install more search engines to your browser, visit this page.
Firefox add-on Omnibar brings features of Chrome’s omnibar to Firefox.

Chrome
Chrome does not have a dedicated search box and the search functionality is combined with the addressbar, and hence it is referred as omnibar. Chrome’s omnibar is not limited to just search and URLs. In coming days, you will be able to do more with this browser element. Chrome has an (experimental) extension API for omnibox, which adds more power to it. You can test it by installing OmniTweet extension.
To use multiple search engines in Chrome, you need to add them manually. Visit Wrench menu > Options > Basics > Default Search > Manage to manage available search engines. You can define keyword for every search engine – which can be used to use that particular engine from the omnibar. Refer this link for more.
Chrome Dev channel is also capable of performing Google Instant search right from the omnibar. See detailed information here.
Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer 9 has also combined the search box and the URL bar. As you start typing in the omnibar of IE9, icons of available search engines appear below, and then you can select anyone using arrow keys. :)
