Chromium based Flock

Flock was the most successful browser, after Firefox, using Mozilla’s open and standard technology. But Flock team suddenly announced to use Chromium codes to empower its new beta in June. I would like to quote few lines from their official blog post announcing this change:

As we start this new chapter with Chromium, it seems important to mention that I believe chromium.org would not even exist had mozilla.org not come before it. We didn’t choose Chromium over Mozilla as much as we chose Chromium after Mozilla. It was a natural evolution. I see Mozilla as a venerable deity in the space, and I feel thankful for everything its enabled.

Recently, Flock’s VP (Engineering) Clayton Stark wrote a guest post on Chromium blog, where he said:

Today social is the mainstream web, and this evolution in the market drove our development roadmap. This is where the technology behind Chromium came into the picture for Flock. As Chromium emerged, we saw that not only was there significant improvements to performance, but also apparent was a simple and elegant user interface and architecture across all the various systems.

Most importantly, benchmark testing shows us that New Flock with Chromium performs in the top-tier of all browsers available in the market.

As the new Flock is based on Chromium (or, Google Chrome), you can install thousands of the extensions available in the official chrome extension gallery. The new Flock feels like Chrome with a sidebar and quick integration with social networking website. Must install it to super charge your social life with super fast speed of Chrome and without Google’s label!
