As you know that the Indian government has announced official symbol for Indian currency, the Indian Rupee (INR). The problem with the rupee symbol is that the rupee symbol character is currently not unicoded and it may take more than 2 years to work it properly. Till then, there is a trick to get rupee symbol in your documents. Here is that:
Well, the trick is simple! You need to download and install a font, Rupee Font, and you will be able to use the new symbol.

After installing the font (.ttf file), try it by opening a new word document (or any other word processor) by typing the grave accent symbol – ` (the key just above "tab" button in your keyboard). Select it and change its font to Rupee. For more detailed information and downloading the Rupee font ttf file, visit this link.
Moreover, this is a true type font and hence you can print the documents with the rupee character. But, this will not work on the computers without this font. So, if you are emailing the document to your friends – they will not be able to see the rupee symbol.
Update: Looking for a better solution? Try this new font for INR symbol.

Gr8 job!!!!!! it works absolutely fine
its working fine, but how can I use it if I am using a font different from Rupee Foradian?
For example, if I am using Times New Roman or Arial Narrow, can I still use the Rupee symbol?
@ranjan: Read the above instruction once again. You can use this font along with the others. Type text in any font, and simply select (highlight) the grave accent symbol (`) to change its font to Foradian’s Rupee font. You can also try another font which is better than this.
