Ovi Browser – Nokia To Bring Own “Opera Mini” For Nokia S40 Handsets

Nokia has announced a new browser project specially for S40 devices: Ovi Browser. The Ovi Browser follows the same pattern as the Opera Mini to deliver fast and compressed internet access to users. According to Nokia, the Ovi Browser is powered by cloud-based Internet compression technology which reduces the data usage up to 90%. This is done by sending compressed form of web pages to users after compressing the data on a server, similar to Opera Mini.

The Ovi Browser, currently in beta, supports many S40 devices including Nokia 2700 Classic, Nokia 5130 XpressMusic, Nokia 5310 XpressMusic, Nokia 7210 Supernova and Nokia X3. To try it, visit browser.ovi.com from your handset and install the application on your mobile.
