Google Chrome had introduced a built-in PDF rendering plug-in for Dev Channel. This Plug-in, when enabled, renders PDF files natively without any additional plug-in or external software like Adobe PDF Reader. This was an exiciting news for Chrome users, but unfortunately the plug-in was not working properly on Linux and Mac platform and users generally got an error message: “Missing Plugin”.
Today, Google Chrome released another update for the Dev Channel which fixes the above bug – and now all Dev Channel users can view PDF files using Chrome on all platforms. The Chrome Dev Channel updated to v 6.0.472.11, which also brings some minor UI changes.

This native PDF rendering functionality in Chrome eliminates need of any PDF reader. Though, Chrome’s PDF rendering tool is very basic – it does not offer even the basic features like zooming etc. at the moment. You can also try gPDF: an extension for Chrome and Firefox.
