Google Reader has announced support for <video> and <audio> HTML5 tags, which enables users to view HTMl5 version of videos embedded in to any RSS item. Google Reader is first RSS feed reader to bring support for these recent technologies.

Well, it does not mean that users will be actually able to enjoy HTM5 videos in Google Reader without installing any browser plug-in. Unfortunately, video hosting sites like YouTube.com and Vimeo.com don’t offer the option to embed videos using HTML5 tags yet. :(
Moreover, Mozilla has no plan to support H.264 compression standard in future, and it will continue with open standard Ogg Theora. So, users can’t play videos from the sites using only use H.264 standard.
