Google Maps Integrates Google Earth

Google Maps recently got a new exciting feature: a new Google Earth tab. This tab has replaced the terrain tab. When a user clicks on this tab, Google Maps renders the Google Earth version. Users will require to install a browser plug-in to use this new feature. Moreover, if you have already installed Google Earth (the desktop application) on your computer, you don’t need to install this plug-in separately.

Google Earth Tab In Google Maps

Peter Birch, Product Manager at Google, explains this new feature:

Earth view offers a true three-dimensional perspective, which lets you experience mountains in full detail, 3D buildings, and first-person dives beneath the ocean. The motion is fluid, and you can see the world from any viewpoint. [ ]

Unfortunately, using Google Earth tab in Firefox slows down the browser. The good news: multi-process for plug-ins is coming soon to Firefox. :)
