Mozilla Banned FatPlug, Firefox Add-on Using FatPlug Will Not Be Allowed On AMO

Mozilla, the organization behind the Open Source browser Firefox, today announced an update for add-on review policy. Mozilla has banned FatPlug, and hence any add-on using FatPlug will not be allowed on official Firefox Add-on site, addons.mozilla.org (AMO).

What is FatPlug?

FatPlug.com is a monetization solution for Firefox add-ons. Add-on developers can join FatPlug network to make money. FatPlug replaces the ads appearing from other advertising networks like Google Adsense, MSN etc, and serves advertisements from its own network. Developers need to incorporate FatPlug codes in their add-on file.

FatPlug Banned On Mozilla Firefox AMO

This is totally objectionable, and Mozilla has officially announced that add-ons using FatPlug will not be allowed on AMO, not even in the sandbox. Moreover, Mozilla is also implementing a flag in add-on code validate to detect FatPlug codes while validating the add-on on submit.
