Few weeks ago, Twitter launched own URL shortening service, twt.tl, to control spam spreading through the direct messages. According to a recent report, twt.tl is faster than bit.ly and many other URL shortening services.
Since twt.tl is not available publicly like goo.gl, users can’t use it directly for creating short links. In case of goo.gl, many clever developers have developed tools (browser add-ons, bookmarklets etc.) to create goo.gl short links. I am waiting for the similar hacks for twt.tl. Till then, you can create a twt.tl short URL by sending a DM to yourself.
Sending a Direct Message To Yourself
Twitter does not allow users to send a DM to themselves. Of course, there is no purpose of sending a private message to yourself. ;) But, we need this to create twt.tl short links. Thankfully, there is a twapp for this: Use Private Tweet (thanks @labnol) for sending DMs to yourself.

To create a twt.tl short URL, simply DM the link to yourself. :)

Poor trick, but works!
