Chrome OS App Launcher In Chromium

If you have seen the screenshots of Google Chrome OS, the Linux based operating system being developed by Google, you may have noticed the Chrome OS app launcher. This is similar to Windows start menu, which helps you in launching applications quickly. As Chrome OS is a cloud based operating system, you will find icons of webapps (like Gmail, YouTube etc.) there.

The latest release of Chromium, the open source browser project behind the Chrome, has a similar "app launcher" which can be used for launching sites quickly.

Chromium App Launcher, Similar to Chrome OS

To try this, install the latest build of Chromium (I used v5.0.363.0 42653) from here, and add this flag to the launcher: –app-launcher-new-tab (see this example). Now restart the browser, and click on the new tab button. You will notice the new UI.
