So YouTube is serious on streaming movies for paid users. After announcing that 3 idiots will be available on YouTube for paid downloads, now bollywood movie Striker will be premiered on YouTube.

According to a press release:

In the US, Striker will be available for rent on YouTube. Outside the US, Striker will be available for free on Studio18′s YouTube channel. In order to ensure that the revenues from the Indian theatrical release are maximized, the movie will not be available for the YouTube traffic originating from India.

According to other sources, Striker will be available at $4.99 in US and will not be available for Indian and Pakistani users.

The star cast of Striker includes Siddharth (Rang De Basanti fame), Anupam Kher, Seema Biswas and Vidya Malvade. The film is directed by Chandan Arora, and produced by The Indian Film Company in association with Studio 18.

This is definitely a nice trend and the best way to reach global audience. Striker will be the first bollywood movie premiered online. The movie will be released on February 5, 2010.
