Google Chrome In Safe Mode

by Arpit Kumar on 8 February 2010

Firefox has a cool feature to use browser in Safe Mode, that disables all add-ons and themes temporarily. This enables you to use Firefox in its native state. This can be helpful, when any add-on or theme is causing trouble due to a possible bug.

To start Firefox in Safe Mode:

  • Close Firefox.
  • Run the following command:
    firefox -safe-mode

(in Windows XP, Start > Run)

  • Now the following window will appear:

Firefox Safe Mode

Hence, you can run Firefox in safe mode.

Google Chrome does not offer the similar feature. But, if you use Chrome in incognito mode, you can temporarily disable all installed extensions easily.

To open a Chrome window in incognito mode, use the command Ctrl + Shift + N.
