Get Alerts Of Earthquakes In Firefox!

Alerts of earthquakes in Firefox – sounds unusual, but yes there is an add-on for that. This add-on eQuake Alert created by developer Priyadarsan Venugopalan is really innovative and unique. Your browser will shake in proportion to the magnitude of earthquake. Cool! :)

eQuake Alert uses RSS feed provided by U.S. Geological Survey for getting alerts. Users can customize the interval time for checking updates. As there is any update for earthquake – Firefox feels it in proportion of the magnitude.

Install eQuake Alert from AMO, and you will notice updates on status bar. You can change various settings including alert method. Following alert methods are available in eQuake:

 eQuake Alert settings

  • Shake browser on earthquake. You can set shake type.
  • Alert box
  • Only status bar icon/message.

Users can also preview shake of a particular magnitude.

Of course, this is a useful add-on only for geologists but if you like innovative tools – you will love it.
