Google Chrome Extension Gallery Will Not Host YouTube Downloaders (And Other Such Extensions!)
Google Chrome Extension Gallery – the official repository of Chrome add-ons, is not open for public yet. Developers can upload their extensions and Google accepts them if they follow all policies. These policies are not as open as that of Mozilla, for example: Google will decline any extension from listing if it enables unauthorized download of streaming content or media.

As Download Squad reports, Google has declined Chrome version of Easy YouTube Video Downloader – a popular Firefox add-on (over 2,400,000 installs) to download YouTube videos in MP4, FLV, 3GP and other formats.
This incident reminds us that Chrome is not Chrome – it is Google Chrome. And, Google is not going to transfer control to open community. Thankfully, there are several other ‘open’ repositories and many such add-ons are already available there. You can install any of these extensions to download YouTube videos in Chrome.
We hope that other similar extensions will also get rejected by Google.
