goo.gl lite – Firefox Add-on To Create goo.gl Short URLs Without Google Toolbar
Matthew Flaschen, the developer who created a bookmarklet for Firefox, Opera, Chrome and other browsers to create goo.gl short links instantly without installing any toolbar or extension, has created a Firefox extension for goo.gl.
This tiny extension – goo.gl lite, uses Matthew’s app engine program ggl-shortener.appspot.com, similar to the bookmarklet, and creates goo.gl short links within seconds by just a single mouse click.
How To Use goo.gl lite add-on for Firefox
I always prefer bookmarklets over add-ons, but this case is exception – where I will use add-on, because I found it much faster than the bookmarklet way. To use goo.gl lite – Install it from AMO and restart the browser.
After restarting, right click any where on toolbars, select “customize” and drag the add-on’s button to any toolbar. Now, whenever you click this button – it will create a goo.gl short URL for the currently opened webpage and copy it to your clipboard automatically.
Why not Google Toolbar?
A good question! You can use Google’s Toolbar for creating goo.gl short URLs and many other tasks then why install another add-on. OK. But, if you don’t use Google Toolbar (like me) – you have another great choice now!
Actually, installing tons of add-ons makes Firefox slow and this is why I would suggest you to use goo.gl bookmarklet (which works with other browsers as well!).
