Google Wave Robot To Send And Receive Emails In Wave

by Arpit Kumar on 12 November 2009

Finally, we have this most wanted feature: a Google Wave robot to send and receive emails inside Google Wave. Though, we have seen another Wave robot which alerts participants about any change in the wave but this new robot, Emaily Robot, can send and receive emails to/from any email account. So, you can share waves with the outer world easily.

How To Use Emaily Robot?

To Send Emails :

Add emaily-wave@appspot.com to your contact list, and add this robot to any wave as a participant. Now, you can see an input box (as in above screenshot) where you need to add email address of recipient. Emaily Robot will automatically send the blips (i.e.; updates to the wave) to recipients.

To Receive Emails :

Once you have added Emaily to your contact list, anyone (yes, anyone!) can send you emails which will be received as a wave. Your friends can email you at your-wave-id+googlewave.com@emaily-wave.appspotmail.com. This means that you can mail me here: arpit123+googlewave.com@emaily-wave.appspotmail.com, and I will be able to read it inside Google Wave as a new wave. Sounds great …… but spammers can get advantage of it! :(

Well, I am looking for some new features like attachments, spam control etc. This robot can change the way you use Wave. Thanks to Balazs Szabo for developing Emaily Robot!

Emaily is far from reliable. “Delivery notification failure” reception of mail extremely dodgy. Sent mail through wave have issues recieving.

    100% CRAP!

:( Please understand that Wave, robots and extensions are still in “preview” mode. I am very optimistic. :)

Could not get Wave to accept the email robot. I tried the contact app in google mail and Google Wave. No email robot.
