QuickFox Notes Is A Fantastic Note Taking Add-on For Firefox

I really love those add-ons which make Firefox a complete package, so that you don’t need any other software! QuickFox Notes is another such wonderful add-on which is now a must have for me. :)

It is a plain text editor and note taking tool for Firefox. You can save your notes using this light extension. Here are some cool features of QuickFox Notes :

QuickFox Notes

  • Multi-tab supported.
  • Saves data locally.
  • Supports most of the Notepad++ shortcut keys. (Notepad++ is the popular code editor)
  • Users can change background color, font size, and can search within the tabs.
  • Tabs can be renamed easily.
  • Option for Auto-save, check spelling.

And, now the best feature of this add-on which makes it really super : It saves data on bookmarks. You will notice a separate folder “QuickFox Notes” in bookmarks menu. Your each note (tab) is saved as a bookmark there (Bookmark’s title is the tab’s name; Bookmark’s description is the actual note). This feature is magical – you can synchronize your all notes on other computers using any bookmark sync tool (Xmarks, Weave etc.) because your notes are actually bookmarks! Great, no additional effort required for note sync. :)

You can also use QuickFox Notes as a standalone app : just create another Firefox shortcut, and change its target (Right click > Properties > Shortcut)  to :

"Path" –chrome chrome://qfnotes/content/editor.xul

Change target settings to make QN a standalone app

Though, there are certain limitations of this add-on : there is no supported way to export and import notes as a normal text file, you need to copy and paste content. :(
