Google Rewarded Less Prize Amount To Doodle Competition Winner In India

by Arpit Kumar on 16 November 2009

You must be aware of Google’s Doodle 4 Google program, which is organized in different countries (including US and India). In this contest, school students contribute innovative special logos for Google (called as Doodle), and Google rewards the best creation by putting that on its homepage with some cash prize and other goodies.

On 14th November 2009, Google announced Indian winner of the Doodle 4 Google competition. A 4th standard student, Puru Pratap Singh, won this prize and his doodle “My India – Full Of Life” appeared on Google’s Indian homepage.

Now, Gawker.com has reported another side of the story. According to this blog post, Puru Pratap got just 1/20th (5%) of what an American student gets for winning Doodle 4 Google competition!

Pratap got a laptop for himself and the equivalent of $2,100 for his school. His counterpart in America, meanwhile, will take home a laptop, $15,000 for herself and $25,000 for her school.
