Firefox Universal Uploader – Upload Files To Popular Sites Using Firefox

Sometimes I really surprise that Firefox is the only software I actually need! We are living in the Web 2.0 world and Firefox is the most powerful tool for dealing with webapps.

We love saving our files on clouds and for this there are several uploading tools. Firefox Universal Uploader (Fireuploader) is a fantastic solution for all our uploading needs. Firefox already has some great tools like FireFTP — a FTP client, Uploadr for flickr etc. but Fireuploader is best add-on.

It supports many sites like Google Docs, Picasaweb, Adobe Share, Slideshare, Flickr, YouTube, Facebook,  Smugmug, Photobucket, Box.net, Rapidshare.com etc. The only site I miss here is Microsoft’s SkyDrive. You don’t need any other additional tool to upload files to these sites. Moreover, you don’t need to even visit the sites of these services. Fireuploader supports multiple profiles too. :)

Some other features of this cool add-on are :

  • User friendly interface. Similar to FireFTP‘s interface.
  • Supports drag and drop.
  • Shows upload progress.
  • You can open it by hitting its icon on status bar.
  • Local disks are listed on the left side of the panel, so you can easily browse your files.
  • Log-in credentials are saved locally.
  • You can upload many files to many sites at the same time, just like any other regular uploading tool.
  • Site specific features are also supported, e.g. – Box.net’s  giving public/private access to files or Picasaweb’s editing image title etc.

Hence, Firefox Universal Uploader is a must have Firefox add-on for everyone. Though, sometimes you may get errors and other problems with the sites but you can’t miss this powerful tool.

For uploading photos, FireUploader works great. It can even upload videos to Box.net. Unfortunately, it can’t upload videos to PicasaWeb–just still images.
