Arun Jaitley
Arun Jaitley – the young and educated face of the BJP, the second largest political party of India, is in news again. And, this time not for his fights with other party leaders. This Supreme court lawyer has won the case against Portfolio Brains – the registrant of domain name www.ArunJaitley.com.
Portfolio Brains – a US-based auction site had put this domain on auction for an estimated value of US$14,445 (Rs. 7,00,000 Approx.). Jaitley filed a case against the company when the company refused his request to transfer the domain to him and asked him to participate in the auction to get it.
This case is certainly the very first of its kind, because we have not seen any Indian politician fighting for his/her online identity. Though, few cases were reported earlier about the domain names/orkut profiles of Sonia Gandhi.
Why Jaitley is too serious for this domain name?

Of course, it is about being conscious about your public image and online identity but the story may have another angle. Many leaders in BJP take Arun Jaitley as the next candidate for the prime minister’s post. So is it the first step towards online campaign? ;)

UPDATE : Mr. Jaitely has not got the domain as yet. its just restrained from being auctioned till the next date of hearing on Jan 6. (Thanks Dushyant @aquadk )
