Tools like Printfriendly and Purifyr removes unwanted elements like headers, ads, images etc. from webpages and thus saves valuable printer ink (and paper too!). But, we have can’t have such approach for printing documents, spreadsheets etc.
The simplest idea to reduce ink usage is decreasing dpi quality, but now we have another option – Ecofont.

Ecofont describes itself as :
how much of a letter can be removed while maintaining readability? After extensive testing with all kinds of shapes, the best results were achieved using small circles. After lots of late hours (and coffee) this resulted in a font that uses up to 20% less ink.
Hence, Ecofont characters have voids — the holes and thus it saves the printer ink without loosing readability. :)
You can download Ecofont from here, and if you don’t know how to install a font refer this faq page.
