The United Nations launches first free online university of the world. Exciting!!

Here is a big update – United Nations has launched world’s first and free online university – University of the People (UoPeople).

The only charges to students are a one-off admission fee that ranges from $US 15 to $50 depending on the country of origin, plus a processing fee for each test, ranging from $US 10 to $100. At this time, application fees have been waived meaning enrolment is completely free.

The concept is very exciting and very helpful for the people across the globe. Still, there are few questions like “Are the degrees awarded by UoPeople valid in all the countries of world?” The answer is :

University of the People is not an accredited institution. The University of the People intends to apply for accreditation and for authorization from recognized agencies and authorities in accordance with the rules, regulations and timelines of said agencies and authorities.

    Even if they don’t get their accreditation, which hopefully, they will, this looks like a great opportunity to continue education for people who wouldn’t be able to otherwise, and are passionate about learning.
