How To Create Multiple Profiles In Firefox

Having multiple profiles in Firefox is really a nice idea. You can manage your life easily with this way. Also, if you share computer with others you must create separate profiles.

Firefox Profile

If you have installed many add-ons, have large browser cache, too many items in history and bookmarks then working with Firefox is not very convenient always. It would be better to have atleast one separate profile with minimum number of add-ons and other settings to browse the web with simplicity.

What is a Firefox Profile?

Mozilla describes it as :

Firefox saves your personal information such as bookmarks, passwords, and user preferences in a set of files called your profile, which is stored in a separate location from the Firefox program files.

How To Create A Firefox Profile?

Even if you have not created a profile so far, you have the default profile there. To create a new Firefox profile or to see all of them, close Firefox and go to Start > Run (Windows) and enter the following command :

firefox.exe -P

Now, follow the simple process and create profiles. If you don’t select the “Don’t ask at startup”  checkbox, Firefox will ask you for the profile to use each time you start Firefox.

How To Backup A Firefox Profile?

I would suggest you the easiest way – use MozBackup. It is a freeware and can backup all settings ( including bookmarks, cookies, add-ons,passwords etc.) for each profile separately. :)

Backup a firefox profile, carry it with a USB stick. You can use it (of course, after restoring the backup file!) on other computers. ;)
