Twitter is of course a great source for searching the trends on web. Like Google Search, twitter’s default search also supports some powerful operators.
Twitter Search Operators
You can customize your search with using supported operators. Some useful search operators are :
- from:user – search with in the tweets posted by a user
- to:user – search with in the tweets sent to a user
- x OR y – containing either “x” or “y” or both
- since:2008-03-01 – sent since mentioned date
- until:2008-03-01 – sent p to the mentioned date
- x -y – search for “x” but not “y”

Twitter Browser Search Plugin
You can also add twitter search engine to your browser. Install this firefox add-on or visit the twitter search page. This will integrate twitter search with your browser, and searching on twitter will become more convenient for you.
Subscribe to Twitter Search Result RSS Feeds
If you search any keyword regularly on twitter, it would be best to subscribe the RSS (actually, it is Atom ;) ) feeds of search results. Twitter supports it and it is almost real time. To subscribe feeds for any keyword, look for the Feed for this query link on the result page or directly use this format :
http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?q=keyword1+keyword2
Advanced Twitter Search Page
Twitter also has an advanced search page. Visit http://search.twitter.com/advanced . Here, you can specify and customize your search query without any problem. You don’t need to remember the search operators!
