Manage Your Bookmarks With Twitter

BookmarkWe use different bookmarking services to save URLs for future references. Also, some services like del.icio.us provide an easier way to share our bookmarks with friends and everyone. How is the idea to use twitter for saving and sharing URLs?

Twitter can serve as a tool to save and share URLs. This can be done by various ways. I am suggesting just one of it, which does not require any special twapp.

Let me explore it :

  • Choose a #hashtag : Decide a #hashtag for saving your bookmarks. Keep it small. I use #bm.
  • Post URLs with this #hashtag : Whenever you wish to save a URL on twitter, post a tweet with this URL and selected #hashtag.

I would suggest you a very useful bookmarklet twitthat which helps you in posting current URL to twitter. The best side of twitthat is its support for custom action – which enables you to post tweets with your selected #hashtag without typing it each time.

You can use any twitter client to post URLs to twitter – just remember to add selected #hashtag to the tweet.

Hence, You can save & share URLs with twitter. Now, to access them easily in future follow this cool way :

  • Search this query on twitter from:your-twitter-id #your-selected-hashtag . For example, I will have to search like this from:arpitnext #bm . (Read More about twitter search)
  • Now, save this search.

Save Search on Twitter

By doing so this query will be saved in the sidebar and now you can access your bookmarks easily.

Moreover, you can add some more specific keywords or #hashtags to search your bookmarks effectively.

One Response to Manage Your Bookmarks With Twitter

  1. Isn’t it easier to just save it to delicious? :)

But, yes, I can see the value here. If you are going to share it on twitter anyway, then why not to tag it for future reference instead of doing an extra work of bookmarking it somewhere else.

    Thanks for the tip :)
