Control HTTP Referrer With RefControl

by Arpit Kumar on 29 April 2009

RefControl is a Firefox add-on which helps you in choosing the HTTP Referrer for each and every site.

refcontrol

When visiting a webpage, the referrer or referring page is the URL of the previous webpage from which a link was followed. [Wikipedia]

Using this add-on, you can control the referrer on per site basis. You can set referrer for a specific sites and can set default referrer  for any site not in the list. Hence, you can fool webmasters. ;)

Though, this idea is used for referrer spoofing but, I can’t see anything wrong with it. You can protect your privacy with this way and can hide your surfing details from webmasters.

Note : You may face some problems with few sites, which use HTTP referrer for  verification purpose. So, set “Normal Referrer” for such sites.
