by Arpit Kumar on 17 April 2009

FeedBurner is an essential tool for bloggers. Here is how you can use MyBrand, a very useful (& FREE) service offered by FeedBurner.

MyBrand

Whenever you burn a feed using Feedburner you get the resulting URL something like this : feeds.feedburner.com/xyz . Using MyBrand service you can use your own sub-domain name for this. For example, I use the URL http://feed.arpitnext.com/arpitnext for publishing feeds of this blog. Hence, you can personalize the feed URLs.

How to use FeedBurner MyBrand

If you own a domain name for your blog, you can use this service. Follow these simple steps :

  • Log-in to FeedBurner
  • Move to MyBrand page
  • Now, see the instructions there. You will be required to create a CNAME record redirecting to instructed URL.
  • To create a CNAME record, you need log-in to your domain host (like GoDaddy etc.)
  • Don’t forget to click the Save button at the bottom.

Once you completed these steps, you can use MyBrand service. All your EXISTING feeds will be redirected to this new sub-domain name. Hence, if you have already burned a feed and it has URL something like feeds2.feedburner.com/qwerty, it will be moved to subdomain.yourdomain.com/qwerty .

The old URLs will not stop working. Hence, you don’t lose any subscriber!
