Use Web Clips to get latest updates from Blogs and RSS Feeds

How do you get updates from your favorite blogs, feeds, twitter etc? I am sure that most of you prefer Feed Readers. Alternatively, you can find updates from these sources inside your GMail window using Web Clips. Hence, you don’t need to launch another tab for checking updates. :)

To use Web Clips move to “Settings” section in your GMail account and select “Web Clips” Tab. Now, check the “show” box.

By default, Web Clips have many sources for showing updates. You can “remove” them and add your own feeds. Enter the desired URL (e.g. – http://blog.arpitnext.com) and follow the guided steps.

You can read Tweets of your friends as well. Enter their twitter profile URL (e.g. – http://twitter.com/arpitnext) and you are done!

If you want to add twitterupdates of your all friends (i.e.; Entire Friends Timeline), follow these steps:

  • Get URL of your “friends timeline” feed. You can find it from the bottom of twitter homepage. It would be like: http://twitter.com/statuses/friends_timeline/7397852.rss
  • Please, note that this is a secured feed. So, you need to convert it to a free feed. There are many services on web for this. You may try FreeMyFeed . You can use feedburner for this too. For this, enter the URL in this format to burn:  http://username:password@twitter.com/statuses/friends_timeline/7397852.rss
  • Now add the resultant free feed to the Web Clips.
