BugMeNot : Get usernames and passwords to bypass mandatory free registrations

by Arpit Kumar on 8 September 2008

BugMeNot is an Internet service that provides usernames and passwords to let Internet users bypass mandatory free registration on websites.
Is it not a cool idea to access those websites anonymously ?

On several instants , you may have faced a situation where the website asked to get registered with it ( Like : YouTube , New Sites etc. ) and you are now forced to provide your personal details to them ! This results into Spams , Unwanted Promotion mails , Identity Theft etc .

Here are 5 simple steps to use BugMeNot as described on its tutorial page :

  • STEP 1: Make a note of the website address your are trying to access. For example: http://www.nytimes.com/cnet/CNET_2100-1024_3-5567274.html Or even just: www.nytimes.com
  • STEP 2: Visit http://bugmenot.com
  • STEP 3: Enter the address from step 1 into the box and press the “Get Logins” button .
  • STEP 4: You should now be presented with at least one username and password. Make a note of them.
  • STEP 5: Go back to the site you were originally trying to access in step 1 and proceed to login with the username and password you noted in the previous step.

At first instant you will love BugMeNot , it worths a bookmark for use in future .

Moreover , BugMeNot also provides an option for site owners to block their site from the bugmenot database, if they match one or more of the follow criteria

  • a community site where users register to change content, but not to view it.
  • the site is pay-per-view.
  • there is a fraud risk associated with the site due to accounts containing private financial information .

Arpit , I am confused that why will you need this service ? As per your post Bug Me Not offers user names’ just for Free Registrations Sites . As , such registrations are free .. just register with them ….. and save ID and password with Firefox …hence you don’t need to remember ID / PW .BR/BR/BR/BR/Spams can be managed by Filters too . BR/BR/You said that “you are now forced to provide your personal details to them ” , WHO gives REAL details on Internet ?
