Alerts of New mails into Feed Reader
Here is a way to get Alerts for New mails coming to your Gmail account(s) in your Feed Reader ( e.g. : FeedDemon ) . Hence , you can get updates about new incoming e-mails to your Gmail account in the same way you get updates from your favorite blogs .
For this , you need to subscribe a very special feed : https://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom . Just open your Feed Reader , opt for new subscription , and enter this URL in the Feed-URL box . You will be asked for your Gmail user name and password , and you are done !
In the updates , you will recieve Subject of mail , Sender’s Name , Date and first few words of e-mail .
You will also get a direct-link to that mail .
If you use “label” filters and want to get alerts only for a specific label , then you need to subscribe to this feed : https://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom/label-name/ . Don’t forget to replace label-name with your desired label .
One can simply ask that “What is so special with getting such types of Alerts ?” . Here is my answer :
- You can manage Multiple Gmail Accounts ! Yes . Get alerts of mails from all accounts and read if required ! ( Another ways to Manage Mutiple accounts is to Opt for “forwarding” mails from all accounts to one account OR to use CookiePie ) .
- If you love to use RSS Readers over the browsers .
- And , if using Gmail is banned at your Office or Workplace , you can get the updates . I am quite sure that Feed Readers willn’t be banned . Even , if Feed Readers are banned at your workplace , use Opera Browser , as it has an in-built RSS reader !
