India’s leading mobile handset marketer Nokia is now India’s most Trusted Brand .

This results in the Brand Equity’s annual Most Trusted Brands survey . The survey was conducted nationwide across 12 cities, involving over 8,000 respondents across socio-economic class, age and income groups. Nokia, which first became part of the survey in 2005, has been voted as the No 1 in most of the respondent-based categories in this year’s exercise. “Our team in India has worked very hard to achieve this,” said Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, president & CEO Nokia Corp, receiving the news with immense pride and pleasure.

Mr Kallasvuo added that India is a combination of both high-end and low-end markets and it is Nokia’s comprehensive portfolio for this market “together with investments in marketing and distribution that have helped differentiate the brand from the competition”. ( Report from Economic Times )

Colgate occupies the No 2 slot this year, Tata Salt returns to the Top 5 after having dropped to No 13 in last year’s survey. Hindustan Unilever’s (HUL) Pepsodent, Pond’s and Lux are at No 4, No 5 and No 6, respectively while Lifebuoy, another of the company’s brands, is placed at No 9. As has been the case over the past few years, HUL continues to rule the Top 10 table.
