All about PDF

PDF is gradually being most popular format for exchanging documents and even images . But , dealing with PDF is not as easy as with other popular formats , like .doc .

Here are some great tools and tips about creating , managing and editing PDF files . Most of the them are free , just like my other suggestions !

Reading or Viewing PDF

The option is very simple and official . You should choose Adobe Reader . But , if want to change your taste the best option is Sumatra , which is open-source PDF viewer for Windows .

Creating PDF

It is more popular to convert other file formats in PDF . The options for converting are unlimited .

• If don’t want to install any software into your system and still want to convert your file as PDF , Just mail your files as attachment to PDF@koolwire.com . You will receive a reply from KoolWire.com with an attachment . This attachment will be converted file ! Hence , you can convert your files into PDF format easily .

But , this option is not so cool . You need Internet connection and have to upload your file to send , which will become more tough if you want to convert big files .

• You can opt for a Virtual PDF printer . It works just like normal printer , but there is no physical printer needed . Just install any of them and print your files directly to PDF . I will suggest you PDFCreator , which is open-source and free !

Download it and install it . Now, you can find it in the list of printers while printing any file . Just choose it and you will get an output PDF file instead of normal print-outs on paper .

This is a great tool . You can hence convert all the those file formats into PDF , which can be printed using normal printers . You can convert Word files , images , HTMLs or webpages from any website etc. easily to PDF now .

• If you are using OpenOffice , the free and open-source alternative of MS-office , then you can easily convert your OpenOffice files into PDF . Just , Select File>Export>PDF . To convert your MS-Office files , just open them into OpenOffice and now convert .
• Microsoft also offer a free extension to Office2007 users , which converts your Office files directly to PDF . Check it here.

Managing and Editing PDF

• Suppose you have a PDF file and you want to extract some selected pages from it Or you want to merge two PDF files to create a single file ! Now you will need PDF Split-Merge .PDF Split-Merge is used to split files by pages, you can split the file into single pages or save every a few pages as a new file, it also can be used to merge multiple PDF files or selected pages from one or more files into a PDF file, preservation of original links, and form fields. Get it from here .
• Editing a PDF file may cost you . There are better free options for Linux users but for window users , the free tools are very limited .

You can try http://pdfescape.com for online editing , but it is free only for trail ! Other options are also free for just trails . But , don’t worry !! OpenOffice has announced that its next version will include PDF editing option , hence you can have a free editor very soon !!

• If want to convert your PDF file into Word format , then there are many options for converters . I found HelloPDF.com’s FREE PDF to WORD CONVERTER very good . It is totally free and gives better output than others . Hence, you can convert the PDF file into word ,can perform editing to the word file and then convert it back to PDF without spending any money !! Get FREE PDF to WORD CONVERTER from HelloPDF.com .
